Cao Yongguo achieved his B.Sc. in Veterinary Medicine from Nanjing Agricultural University in 2006. From 2006 to 2011, he received his master's degree and doctor's degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine of Jilin University. During 2009 to 2011, he studied in the Department of Zoonoses in the College of Veterinary Medicine of Cornell University as a state-sponsored joint training doctor. From Jun 2018 to Jul 2020, he worked as a visiting associate professor at Yale University School of Medicine in the United States for two years supported by Jilin University Peiying project. In the past five years, he has presided over 15 provincial-level and lateral projects, including a Key Project of Chinese National Programs for Research and Development, and two of National Natural Science Foundation of China.
