On July 1, 2016, the Jilin University-Edinburgh University International Veterinary Education and Animal Welfare Symposium was successfully concluded in the Library on Heping campus of Jilin University.
At 8 o'clock, Professor Knight Warren, Associate Dean of International Affairs of the University of Edinburgh and his delegation visited the Infectious Disease Laboratory of the Department of Preventive Veterinary Medicine of the School of Veterinary Medicine and the Key Laboratory of Zoonoses of the Ministry of Education. Professor Knight Warren expressed his satisfaction with the scientific research conditions of the College of Veterinary Medicine, and hoped that both parties could exhibit each other. And he had deeper interest in exchanges and cooperation in the field of veterinary scientific research.
At about 9 o'clock, participants from both sides came to the meeting room on the third floor of the College of Veterinary Medicine to have a discussion, and reached consensus on the 3+1+1 or 2+4 joint training program for undergraduates, course introduction, scientific research cooperation, and mutual visits of teachers.
At 11 o'clock, the closing ceremony of this seminar was held. First of all, the "Jilin University-Edinburgh University International Veterinary Education and Animal Welfare Symposium" was broadcasted to show the bit by bit of the exchange process between the two sides, which evoked the fond memories of every guest present. Subsequently, Professor Knight Warren, Associate Dean of International Affairs at the University of Edinburgh, gave a speech. He congratulated the successful holding of this seminar and thanked the College of Veterinary Medicine of Jilin University for the warm hospitality, and said that this exchange will definitely be soon in the future. It bears fruitful fruits and benefits the teachers and students of the two schools. Next, Professor Lai Liangxue, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, extended a warm welcome to the delegation of the University of Edinburgh and thanked the teachers of the University of Edinburgh for their wonderful speeches. He hoped that both parties could continue to exchange and cooperate on issues of common concern. Afterwards, Professor Jeremy Bradshaw, the vice president of the University of Edinburgh, sincerely thanked Jilin University for its warm and thoughtful arrangements, which enabled the two parties to reach consensus on important issues in such a short period of time. It is well believed that the cooperation between the two parties will have a brighter prospect.
Finally, Professor Zhang Guangcui, Director of Global Engagement Office of Jilin University, delivered a speech. She congratulated on the successful holding of this seminar and highly praised the positive attitude shown by the University of Edinburgh in this event. From the initial exchange intention to the successful holding of this seminar, the two sides only contributed to the exchange through three formal meetings, demonstrating a high degree of trust in mutual benefit and exchange of needs. “I would like to express my gratitude to the organizer of the College of Veterinary Medicine for their hard work in this event, which made this seminar possible. I would like to express my sincere thanks to 20 experts from 13 domestic colleges and universities for their strong support.
